Mosque of Kizimkazi
Mosque of Kizimkazi (Dimbani, Zanzibar) – located toward the southern tip of Zanzibar, this is the site of a Shiraz mosque dating from the early 12th century. It’s considered one of the oldest Islamic buildings on the East African coast. Nearby, just above the high water mark on the beach, are the remains of an 18th century stone wall, which once formed a defensive perimeter around the whole settlement.
