Mercury’s Bar
Mercury’s Bar (Mizingani Road Malindi Road, Stone Town, Zanzibar City) – this seaside bar pays tribute to a unlikely celebrity that once lived in Zanzibar: rock star Freddie Mercury (of the famed band “Queen”). Mercury lived here until he was 17 (1964), when he and his family fled the revolution that swept through the island (as part of its incorporation into the then-new nation of Tanzania). This theme bar honors Mercury’s musical career, along with playing music from the 80s and other periods.
Live bands are often booked here during the weekends.
